So, another season has come to an end, and now another season begins….. the silly season.

Looking back at the Manchester United campaign of 2010/11 there is one game in particular that will follow me forever - Blackpool Away. At the start of the season Chelsea ran riot and humiliated teams like they had in the 2009/10 season, playing magnificent football with some astonishing results. Then came the sacking of one Ray Wilkins, and the Russian Empire fell apart. Arsenal
instead became the number one threat to Manchester United, but the quadruple was a bit too much for Arséne Wenger’s boys and from the moment the Carling Cup slipped away from them, everything fell apart. And around that time Chelsea started to look like their old selves again, fighting their way up to once again become the greatest threat to Manchester United’s dreams of a record 19th title.

The first half of the season was not very good for Manchester United. Too many draws, but we could have easily lost out to a great Aston Villa side at Villa Park, being 2-0 down, and frankly we could have been 4-0 down.

If not for Nani, we could have well been out of the title race by December.

Oh, right. Blackpool away…

2-0 down at half-time, we knew the game was not over but it’s never a situation we like to be in. No one likes it. Ryan Giggs came on, and United took command. These games are necessary to win if you are to be champions and United’s never say die attitude showed itself once again. In the 72nd minute Dimitar Berbatov struck to make it 2-1, game on. Just a few minutes later Javier Hernandez slotted home a goal to make it 2-2. COME ON UNITED! And in the 88th minute, Dimitar Berbatov came to the rescue and won us the game, 3-2. The commentator shouted ‘It’s what champions are made of!’ and I couldn’t agree more.

In a season of unpredictable results, unpredictable and ridiculous sackings we could still rely on United doing everything possible to win.

Which game is your game of the season?
